Cabit CABIT is a file archiver that uses the Microsoft CAB API to compress the files.  It requires .NET framework 2.0 or higher. This has a couple of advantages over Zip.  First it is more efficient at compressing the files making the resulting archive smaller than a ZIP. CAB files are native to Windows so when you click on them with newer versions of Windows, XP, Vista and Windows 7,8,8.1,10 it is opened with Windows Explorer and files can be managed just like you do in a normal folder.
The File menu has all the operations other than Refresh. Compress compresses all the files and folders selected on the right pane. Compress (Encrypted) does the same thing but asks for a password and encrypts the content. Extract will extract all files and folders from a cab file.  Note: using Windows explorer is a better way of viewing and extracting CAB files. Extract (Encrypted) extracts files and folders from an encrypted CAB file. Delete deletes files and folders from a CAB file. Rename allows renaming files and folders in a CAB file.
You can also right click on selected files/folders to choose the menu options View Contents allows you to view the contents of a selected CAB file without extracting the contents. If you select a folder to add to the CAB file it will add all it's contents including other folders and their contents
